SPIE Astronomical Telescopes & Instrumentation conference

17-07-2022 - 22-07-2022

In July 2022, the biennial SPIE Astronomical Telescopes & Instrumentation conference, focused on ground- and space-based astronomical instrumentation, was held in Montreal, Canada.

There was a significant and strong Dutch delegation among the 2000 participants. Moreover, the Dutch instrumentation sector was prominently represented with an NL Space Pavilion at the exhibition. Companies VDL-ETG, Cosine and Dutch United Instruments, and institutes TNO, SRON and NOVA partnered to showcase the Dutch expertise and collaborative atmosphere. The pavilion drew a large crowd, also attracted by the hand-out of small Lego JWST models to advertise the Dutch contribution to this groundbreaking new space telescope. More than 150 VIPs and invitees attended the NL Space Pavilion network reception, facilitated by the Netherlands embassy in Canada. The entire event provided many good new leads for the partners in the pavilion. The NL Space Pavilion was organized by NOVA and sponsored by NSO, SpaceNed and ILO-net. The next SPIE Astronomical Telescopes & Instrumentation conference is scheduled for 2024 in Japan and we are looking forward to repeating this success with the current and new partners.
