Deep Tech Day UvA 28 january
28-01-2026
The UvA faculty of Science organised their first Deep Tech Day at Amsterdam Science Park. During this event, the focus was on the road from deep technological science to societal impact. The programme featured plenary sessions with keynotes and panel discussions by, among others, Tjerk Opmeer (Director of Innovation Policy, Ministry of Economic Affairs), Constantijn van Oranje (Special Envoy at TechLeap), Dr. Emilia Olsson (Faculty of Science, University of Amsterdam, and ARCNL), and Renée Frissen (AI Plan). There were several parallel sessions for example focussing on Knowledge & Technology Transfer or the Faculty of Science Startups.
The event offered the possibility to visit cutting-edge facilities during dedicated lab tours and to listen to pitches from researchers and startups and scale-ups. Science, technology and entrepreneurship were brought together at the Innovation Market. The Deep Tech Day showcased the broad range of technological innovation taking place, from quantum technologies to life sciences, materials and sustainability to AI, and highlighted the potential for the Netherlands to be a deep tech hub.
