09-12-2025
On 9 December 2025, the INPROCAP project organised its third expert seminar of the training journey: Building Capacity Across Big Science. The seminar focussed on “Market Analysis in the Context of Innovation Procurement.” The hybrid event, hosted at European XFEL and online, brought together procurement professionals, Industrial Liaison Officers, and innovation stakeholders from across Europe to discuss how market analysis can support more effective innovation procurement in the Big Science context.
The webinar highlighted the strategic role of market analysis in identifying technological opportunities, understanding supplier landscapes, and aligning procurement needs with market capabilities. Through presentations and interactive elements, participants explored practical tools for market scanning, needs assessment, and supplier engagement, with a strong focus on translating insights into concrete procurement strategies.
The INPROCAP project aims to strengthen innovation procurement capacities within Big Science organisations by developing tools, training, and best practices that foster collaboration with innovative suppliers, including SMEs. By sharing methodologies and real-world perspectives, the event underlined how structured market analysis can act as a foundation for procurement-driven innovation within large-scale research infrastructures.
Further seminars with focus on innovation procurement will follow throughout 2026 addressing different target groups within this process. Information on the training can be found via this link.
