Advanced Instrumentation gathering at Nikhef


On the 12th of June, a gathering was organised at Nikhef on the topic of the strategic plan on Advanced Instrumentation in the realm of the top sectors. The strategic plans are a new method of financing developments in various domain in collaborations between knowledge institutes and industry. Depending on the stage of developments, more or less co-funding is required from industry.

The aim of the afternoon was to bring people and organisations together to look for opportunities to work together and submit grant applications. First, the details of the new funding scheme were presented. Thereafter, there were four presentations from institutes about their current technological challenges, which they would be interested in tackling together with industry. Two companies and TNO presented their experience in working together with institutes.
The last part of the programme was a tour of the Nikhef mechanical workshop highlighting a number of challenging projects and a demonstration of challenges in the domain of fast-timing and data transmission by representatives from the electronics department. The afternoon ended with drinks and many discussions.
