Holland HighTech Network event
Four of the running NGF projects were invited to report in a five-minute pitch about their status to the HighTech community. Rob van der Meer presented the Einstein Telescope challenges and calls. During the following two-hour network opportunity with food and drinks our ET-team had a continuous stream of company representatives with questions and suggestions and lively conversations, way after many of the other project representatives had left for home.
Business day of ET-NGF valorisation programme
The first business day of the Dutch valorisation programme ‘Einstein Telescope for business’ took place on 1 July 2024 in the MECC in Maastricht.
There was a diverse plenary programme with a crash course in gravity waves from Gideon Koekoek (Maastricht University and Nikhef), as well as a look behind the scenes of the first R&D project on vibration-free cooling technology, by Demcon Kryoz, Cooll and the University of Twente. During and after lunch there was an information market on the five ET-NGF calls on ET-R&D projects.

Stimulus 30 jaar celebration event
Stimulus, the organization executing the program management for subsidy programs in the three southern provinces of the Netherlands, celebrated their 30-year anniversary with an afternoon workshop in het Evoluon in Eindhoven.
The two main topics of the keynotes of this afternoon were “road to Brussel” and “Done with Europe Chagrin”, both calling for widening European collaboration to really getting things done.

The biennial SPIE Astronomical Telescopes & Instrumentation conference is the largest in its sector and focused on astronomical instrumentation on the ground as well as in space. More than 2,300 experts, scientists, policymakers and industry representatives from all over the world have participated in this conference. Every other year, the conference takes place in Europe and North America, and in 2024 for the first time in Asia. As part of this conference, the three-day exhibition is an excellent opportunity for Dutch industry and research institutes affiliated with astronomy and space instrumentation to present themselves and connect with potential partners, customers and policymakers.

Advanced Instrumentation gathering at Nikhef
On the 12th of June, a gathering was organised at Nikhef on the topic of the strategic plan on Advanced Instrumentation in the realm of the top sectors. The strategic plans are a new method of financing developments in various domain in collaborations between knowledge institutes and industry. Depending on the stage of developments, more or less co-funding is required from industry.

INPROCAP Kick-off meeting Denmark
11th and 12th of June, NWO-I/BigScience.NL together with six other consortium partners have kicked-off a project named INPROCAP (Building Innovation Procurement Capabilities in Big Science). The other partners are DTI from Denmark, NCBJ from Poland, CDTI from Spain, EISCAT in the north of Scandinavia, EuXfel from Germany and Pedal from Slovakia.
This consortium brings together a diverse group of international partners dedicated to creating a robust framework for innovative procurement within BSOs. This initiative is critical as it addresses the growing demand for a wide range of products and services essential to advancing scientific research and infrastructure. The project is set to span the next three years, during which it aims to bolster the effectiveness and reach of procurement processes in the realm of large-scale scientific research.

First Dutch Fusion Day in Eindhoven: ‘we need Dutchness to make fusion energy become a reality’
With a crowded room and a programme that captivated until the last minute, we look back on a successful first edition of the Dutch Fusion Day in Eindhoven. An energising day that brought together a group of 200 scientists, representatives of high-tech companies and government officials. One thing was crystal clear: we're all eager to get into action to bring fusion energy to a next level.

Einstein Telescope at the Hannover Messe
On the 24th of April, at the initiative of Ellen Ipenburg Tomesen, the Science and education Counsellor at the Netherlands Embassy to Germany, an event was organised to introduce the Einstein Telescope and its technological challenges to the industry representatives present at the Hannover Messe with the aim to increase the knowledge of the German companies about the possibility for them to become involved in solving the challenges to build the Einstein Telescope.

In the beautiful Solvay Library in Brussels, we had a very interesting day with an exciting program.
The Solvay Library in Brussels is a historic place, where Albert Einstein, Niels Bohr, Max Planck, Marie Curie and many other Nobel laureates measured up to each other during the mythical Solvay deliberations. April 10th 2024 featured the ET-EMR Forum, organized by the partners in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine:
- POM Limburg and Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) for Flanders Belgium;
- GRE Liège , University of Liège, Euregio Meuse-Rhine EGTC and Wallonie Entreprendre for Wallonia Belgium and;
- NMWP and AGIT for North Rhine-Westphalia Germany
